Dragon Tamer Gloves

Let’s talk stitches!

The gloves have four stitches that make up everything you need!

  • Chain (CH)
  • Foundation Single Crochet (FDSC)
  • Double Crochet (DC)
  • Picot (PICOT)

Yarn!

I like to use Hobbii’s Carnival yarn. It’s a light weight and soft! Other good yarns include Manarola, Red Heart’s Unforgettable yarn (discontinued though), or Loops & Threads Facet.

Any yarn that’s light-weight/sock weight will work. If you go any bigger (like 4 worsted weight) you may want to go down a hook size to get the right glove size.

Hooks!

I have a LOT of hooks. You have to find the right kind of hook for you. Currently, I use Clover hooks. But as long as you get the right mm size, you should be fine. The standard size, which fits 99.99% of people is an E hook (3.50 mm). If you use thicker yarn, go down one size to a D hook (3.25 mm).

If you need to adjust for size (up or down) you should adjust hook sizes before you attempt to adjust number of stitches. I got down one size (D 3.25 mm) for smaller hands and up one size (F 3.75 mm) for adults.

For children, you are going to have to adjust the number of stitches versus hook changing.

Adjusting For Children!

When I get an order for younger kids, I have the parents measure their hands around their knuckles. Then you count the number of FDSC stitches. You want to keep the number of V stitches and scale stitches the same and subtract from the double crochets that will be on the palm of the hand.

What To Expect In Class!

The class will have up to 20 people. I will make sure everyone has all the supplies they need. Then we’ll start with me demonstrating the FDSC. I will then walk around and provide individual/smaller group support. We will work as long as you want to stay and work on the pattern until it’s time to go on to your next class/event.

It takes me about two hours to make a single glove. I don’t expect you to be that fast. You will work as much as you want in the class, then I will be available for any/all questions via email/text/other class time at Origins/Gen Con.

Can I Bring My Own Supplies?

You’re welcome to bring whatever supplies you prefer to work with. But you paid for the supplies as part of your class and will be given them to take and do with as you will!

If you don’t want your supplies I provide, you can always donate them to future students as well.
